Andy Yan
Andy Yan is a rising junior at Dulaney High School. He believes that mathematics is a paramount tool in most, if not all engineering endeavors.
Andy's interest in mathematics was primarily sparked before high school, when he took the AMC 8 American Math Competition. Around the same time, he developed an interest in engineering and physics, a field that is essentially applied mathematics.
In 9th and 10th grade, he set out to hone his physics and mathematics proficiency, even to the point where he took Calculus BC in 10th grade. Additionally, he attempted to qualify for the USAPhO by taking the F=ma preliminary examination, further demonstrating his passion for physics and engineering.
As a financial analyst for Team Galaxy, Andy was tasked with public affairs and data analysis, playing a very heavy role in securing Third Place in the 2025-2026 NASA DWU Challenge. This historic win represents the first national podium placement for a Maryland team in the competition's history.
