Design + Modeling Instructor

Skyler Zeng

Skyler Zeng is a rising junior at Dulaney High School with a passion for mechanical engineering, robotics, and innovation. To further develop his skills, he competes in programs such as VEX Robotics, serving as Lead Designer for team 1727V. He uses the Autodesk Inventor CAD software to design, prototype, and refine the robot according to each year’s design challenge. After construction, iterative adjustments, and tests, the robot helped place the team in the top 10 consistently at local and state competitions.

In addition, he served as a mechanical designer and researcher for Team Galaxy, the 3rd place winner for the NASA DWU 2025-2026 High School challenge. Team Galaxy became the first Maryland team to reach the national podium in the competition's history, with this year’s challenge focused on sample collection for pest management. He researched, brainstormed, and sketched different mechanisms of the final aircraft, collaborating with the team to finalize the project. Using this model, the team also presented their aircraft at the AASF AIX Summit convention, showcasing an innovative engineering solution to a real-world issue.
